Flip traditional color meanings upside down by developing your own personal associations for each color in the color wheel!
In Acrylic Painting Workshop: Colorful Backgrounds , Nathalie Kalbach explains her method for creating personality-related meanings for each color, and how that might help you understand which colors you’re most drawn to.
Work alongside Nathalie, and her student Kristy Conlin, to create five art journal background spreads each with a different color and mixed-media technique.
After creating these backgrounds Nathalie will give you her tips for mixing and matching different colors with different techniques, and how to create and audition focal points. With these new color meanings and techniques, you’ll have journal page starters for every mood!

About the Artist
Nathalie Kalbach is a self-taught mixed-media artist born in Germany, now residing in Jersey City, New Jersey. Nathalie worked as a paralegal for seventeen years, and might have remained in the wrong profession had she not discovered mixed-media painting in 2004. She has designed stencils for StencilGirl Products and stamps and templates for Stampendous. Nathalie teaches in-person and online workshops and is a faculty member of the Mixed Media division at Pratt Institute SCPS. For Nathalie, creating art is a dialogue between her skills and the supplies she uses, and she loves exploring new and old ways to apply paint and colors to her artwork.
